Certifications?
What kind of certifications can I get? There are so many types of certifications related to job responsibilities, and certifications you can get at your local community college or from software companies like microsoft.
Depending on the responsibilities an employer states on the job description, will determine the type of certification to get or to have.
And where you get your certification can be a bit confusing. You can get certifications through online classes. Or you can go to a local college and take a hybrid class, which is a mix of online classes and classroom lecture.
Or you can just go to a regular class at your local community college and take the certificate program of interest through lecture.
Certification programs at a community college...
Do you want to pay a lot for software company certifications or a certification that is recognized by the state that is much cheaper and available at your local community college? You can get various certifications cheaper from your local community college. You need to make that choice depending on what the employer is looking for and what you are interested in, and how much you really want to pay.
Some say that certifications don't help much, but that can also depend on what type of certificate you get pertaining to the job you are applying for.
Depending on what type of experience you may already have, may determine that you don't need a certificate to get hired onto a job.
But I'm sure if you had a certificate along with the experience related to a job you were applying for, the certificate would surely help.
Usually the certificate programs offered at a community college are anywhere from 15 units to 30 units and can be done in 6 month to a year depending on what program you choose, and at a very inexpensive price.
Certifications need to be listed and separated in different categories to understand what each can benefit, but they should be self explanatory if you know what the program is about.
Software certifications...
There are a lot of different computer software certifications offered on the internet like microsoft and sun microsystems to name a few, but there are other certificate programs related to community colleges that are much cheaper, and are recognized by the state board of education.
Sometimes certifications really help, unless you already have experience in that field. But a certification in any discipline of work can always help. It surely can't hurt you in anyway except putting in the time to get the certification!
Be sure and get only the certification you need for the job field you are interested in, then it will help you benefit for the position you are applying for.
